No signal

‘No Signal’ is a screen between Art and Architecture.

Pixels have been magnified like when we used to look at TV screens up close. Colours are reminiscent of the iconic test card on TV screens when there was/is “no signal” - often before and after broadcasting programs. Elimination of signal is fitting for the interior quiet library zone behind these windows - being calm with less noise, both literally and digitally.

The pixels transform the facade into a screen. They are back painted spandrel panels, a typical architectural interstorey detail used to conceal the components in behind. The pixels have been lifted high to retain as much natural light and views out as possible, for the hardware inside.

For public viewers, the pixels stand out as vibrant colours, which signifies the creativity within. The building is a TV, the facade is the screen, and the artists bring it to life.
